Childhood socialization can be explained in different ways. It could be defined as describing the experiences and interactive relationships that build human nature into that object and person called “child” rests on special languages, is located in special kinds of situations, and is focused around special kinds of social objects and how they affect them. The way your parents raise you is the main causation for a child’s make up--from how they treat people to how they want to be treated. The time period could affect children in a positively or negatively depending on exposure by the parents. Parenting in general has certainly changed from 40 years ago.  The world was a much safer place to grow in autonomy. Technological advancements are at its peak and young children know how to operate them! This past Wednesday, at work, a little boy stomped on and kicked a toy. What made him act with anger like that? What could have spurred the violence from home?

  1. I think technology is taking away aspects of "pretend play". The boy may not have kicked that toy because he was being aggressive but he does not share the desire we had as children to utilize his imagination and play with a doll or toy car so to say, because it is much easier to pick up an ipad or play a computer game. Technology is so accessible that being creative isn't needed, so the toy probably just had no value to him.

  2. I agree with Allie because children's behavior these days are all due to the way they are brought up. If a parent lets their child scream and cry until they get their way then it will just get progressively worse as the child gets older.Who knows what a teenager with that mindset would do to get his/her way. Just because times are different from 40 years ago does not mean children should not be disciplined when they do something wrong. Parents these days have the mindset that their child is the best which results in them wanting to get them the best things and do everything for them. Instead parents should let their kid be a kid instead of protecting them from the world. Children do not even play outside anymore because they are in such a sheltered environment that their parents do not want to see them fall and get hurt when in reality it builds character.Children need to experience things for themselves.
